I have cooked with charcoal but now I looking for something a little bit faster to get started cooking with.

Are we talking or referring to cooking, or smoking the food?
For food smoking, hurry or quick is not the object as smoking requires a lot of time for the smoke to permeate the meat, especially if the food is to be "cold smoked".
